NOSAÏS is a medical detection dog development programme led by Professor Dominique Grandjean, director of LEKKAROD, Clothilde Lecoq, coordinator, and Capucine Gallet, head of training. NOSAÏS aims, through professionals in olfactory detection, to enable any dog to one day put its nose to work for human health. It seeks to develop the use of the dog's olfactory sense in the early detection of chronic proliferative diseases (cancers), degenerative diseases, or those with progressive development. The hope is to standardise the pre-symptomatic expression of many diseases, allowing the definition of an "olfactome" for each individual, ensuring ultra-early and cost-effective screening for society. Since 2020, NOSAÏS has been training dogs to detect the COVID-19 virus. |
